Underestimated

Probably a funny title to give for a blog post. My previous blog post got me thinking about how many people underestimate what I can do. A woman from Mom’s church came over for a visit one day and I had just come home from a writing class downtown and she said “oh, I didn’t know you did that”. The custodian at my church couldn’t believe that I would want to write a book. Why are people so surprised by that?
All my life people have seen me/us as quiet and unassuming but that’s not who we are. We always had opinions. I’m stronger than people give me credit for. Some friends think I’m an inspiration. I don’t think I am. Everyone should do the best with what they are given. I’ve been given a lot of lemons. I believe God has given me a gift to be able to write/talk openly about my grief.
Someday I’ll be able to prove all the naysayers wrong.
