These Horns Were Made for Tooting
Today, share something you love about yourself — don’t be shy, be confident! — but that few other people know about you or get to see very often.
I think most people know by now that I am strong but not everyone. Because the 3 of us are the youngest of the cousins I think they will always see us as “kids”. The only person that knew how bad Mom was was a cousin’s wife that lives in Toronto. I’m sure my Aunt probably told her kids too but they never phoned to ask how I was. For 6 years I’ve been on my own taking care of the house and eventually Mom. I learned how to be independent because I had to. I had to learn how to advocate for my Mom. I am proud of myself for what I accomplished on my own.
My writing teacher told me in an email that I have been given this gift to help me. Writing has become my passion. But I haven’t shared it with many people. I’ve just started sharing a couple of things with my brother and sister-in-law.
People tell me “you’re so sweet” but I’m not that person all the time. Both my parents taught me to stand up for myself. I’ve actually shocked people when I tell them that I swear sometimes. Life has been hard for me and sometimes the only word that comes to mind is “F” or “S”.
I love being a twin and honouring my twin through this blog. I’m an awesome friend and love with my whole heart.
