A couple of days ago I was talking to my twin friend by email and asked if the schedule for conference was posted yet. She had a look and it must have been recently posted. I was reading down and saw that they are having a writing class as one of the sessions/workshops. There are a few twins who have written and published their stories. I’m sure it will be an interesting session.
Usually I don’t like a lot of free time but this year I know I will need it. While their is joy in seeing my twin friends it’s work to share our stories and listen to others. I don’t share my story because for me it’s such a small part of my story. The story never gets easier to tell even for twins who have spent 25 years without their twin. We go to learn how to cope with our loss.
A special part of the weekend is when we do a balloon release. We write someone on the balloon and we let them go to a piece of music playing in the background. The last time I went it was Please Remember by Leann rimes. I try to get a red balloon because that is Janets favourite colour. There is a part of me that is sad that I won’t be able to share the experience with Mom. She knew it was going to be in Detroit and she was happy for me.
Saturday night is our banquet dinner. We all dress up and they have a live auction. I have a couple of quilts that I will be taking. I think my grandma would be pleased.
I can’t believe that it’s less than two months away. The time has flown by and I haven’t been having fun! I look forward to having a break and hanging out with some pretty special people!
